Obama Condemns Proposed Quran Burning

President Obama spoke publicly about the now canceled plans of a Florida pastor and his small congregation to hold a “Burn the Quran” event.  During a television interview that aired across the United States, Obama said about the pastor, “I just hope he understands that what he’s proposing to do is completely contrary to our values of Americans. That this country has been built on the notions of religious freedom and religious tolerance.”

Following an outcry of condemnation from countless political and religious leaders across the United States, the pastor has suspended plans for the Quran burning event.
